Set in the Northside neighborhood of Wilmington sits a 1,000 square foot brick building full of North Carolina history. Originally it housed the Wilmington branch of the Durham-based NC Mutual Life Insurance Company, at one time the largest black-owned enterprise in the world. The building would eventually become ‘Detour Deli’ before closing in 2021. We acknowledge the history that has come before us as we work to create our own.

The Half is a place for some of our favorite things: sandwiches, beer, art, and collaboration. Featuring innovative sandwiches with inspirations from around the globe, beer collaborations with some of the top breweries in the country, and rotating featured artists. We’re highlighting the best of our industry in one place.
